Investigative Website Bellingcat Seeks Funding for Russian Version

Bellingcat is looking to fund a Russian language version of its investigative journalism website in 2016, the citizen journalist site announced Friday on Twitter.

The British citizen journalist and blogger Eliot Higgins started Bellingcat for citizen journalists to launch investigations using open-source information.

The website was launched on July 15, 2014 after a successful Kickstarter funding campaign, with Higgins and eight volunteers providing content, Newsweek reported in June 2015.

Bellingcat investigated the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in Ukraine using open-source information.
